Sustainability

For five generations the Inn has demonstrated an enduring dedication to water and resource conservation. We are proud of the sustainability initiatives that have been incorporated into the daily operations of the hotel, restaurant and garden. Our hope is that we can continue reducing our carbon footprint and preserve the Oasis for future generations to come.

Hotel

  • Housekeeping makes their own cleaning products used in the rooms
  • Old/Used towels are repurposed for rags
  • Light bulbs are LED
  • Shower amenities are purchased in bulk and used in the refillable shower dispensers. The Inn has done this for years, prior to the CA law banning single use plastic containers
  • There are no single serving portioned breakfast foods. All are served in bulk and made in house
  • Coffees and teas are fair trade organic
  • Water dispenser is available for guests to refill their water bottles
  • Grey water is used for irrigation of the native vegetation

Restaurant

  • Water and dinner bread are upon request, to reduce waste
  • Menu items are created to utilize the seasonal produce grown in our organic farm
  • Vegetable scraps are made into vegetable stock
  • Food scraps are collected daily for composting and chicken feed
  • Plastic to go items have been replaced with compostable to go items
  • Copy paper is made from 100% recycled paper and once used is repurposed as scrap paper

Garden

  • Fallen palm fronds and invasive weeds like mustard grass are repurposed into mulch
  • Restaurant scraps are collected and used for compost
  • Composting process adheres to bio intensive methods
  • Cultivation of a diverse array of crops specifically tailored to the needs of our resident chickens
