Roy Murphy worked as a commercial artist and illustrator in art studios and printing houses for many years before becoming a professional photographer. His love of nature has been the prevailing influence on his photography. In his book "Angeles National Forest," he captures the fleeting moods of flowers and wildlife. His prints and murals hang in numerous private collections and public buildings in the United States and Canada.
